IN 1895, WILLIAM G. MORGAN CREATED MINTONETTE, WHICH LATER IS CALLED WHAT?

VOLLEYBALL

That was a hard one – look how many letters they had to go through to figure it out. The next letter chosen was L, but they guessed Rollerball first so the other team got the correct answer & won the point.

Such a close game today – 15 to 14 with the Mavericks making their move during the last few questions but coming up short! It was great to have both siblings there, and we are all impressed that Nikki knows all the U.S. presidents’ names in order, frontward and backward!

WHAT IS CELEBRATED ON JANUARY 24th?

BELLY LAUGH DAY

This was a tricky one as the teams expected it to start with National or International but it didn’t. They had to go through several letters just to fill in a few of the blanks.

Great group today – so many that it was hard keeping track of all the names. It was great to see Mark again (it had been about 6 mos). Apologies (again) to dear Alan who had the answer, but I had called on the other team so he missed the point. With Robin being on top of her game, she scored the most points, handily having the Hot Shots beat the Mavericks. If only Nikki would have come to the rescue instead of staying home to watch tv.

WHAT IS THE WORD “GORILLA” DERIVED FROM IN GREEK?

A TRIBE OF HAIRY WOMEN

I would say those Greeks were a tad bit sexist, wouldn’t you?

After missing the game for 3 weeks, I am finally feeling better & no longer contagious so it was wonderful to see all my peeps at Madrona Retirement! Although the sisters, Mary, Jane, Jane, & Jim did not make it, it was great to see everyone again!

Since I have 2 years’ worth of The Write Word Games, this year I will go back to the original series. I would have thought those who have played it for over a year would remember some of the questions, but they did not. This was not one of the questions used during yesterday’s The Write Word Game at Madrona Hills Retirement as I am down with the dreaded 2020 Horrid Head Cold (day 9) so dearest Robin ran the game for the 3rd week in a row (I was sick last week too!).

For this year, all game questions are from the original 1st year’s selection (as I have 2 years of questions & have never posted the 1st year’s on this blog), so enjoy the ride!
